Don Lofthouse

DRL Tree Care is headed up by big tree specialist Don Lofthouse.

Don began his career in tree work at the age of 17 with an apprenticeship NVQ level 2 in arboriculture. Following this he furthered his education and knowledge of trees by completing a national diploma in arboriculture at East Durham college.  With a sound foundation of arboricultural knowledge and techniques, coupled with a thirst to improve his practical skills he embarked on his first position with Davey tree expert company in Pennsylvania, USA, where he stayed for 3 years.

With a suitable amount of practical experience he then began working as a self employed freelance climber working all over the UK and Europe.

His passion for tree work started as a teenager, and quickly became his sole focus for his future career.

Working as a freelance climber in multiple countries has given him a unique take on tree work, having successfully risen to the challenges of some of the largest trees in our neighbouring countries.

The expertise gained over the years sets Don apart as a true specialist in large tree removals involving technical rigging and crane assistance.

A keen interest in arboriculture over the years, and how it has changed and developed, shows in Don’s approach to tree work, equipment, and best work practices.
